Program Spotlights

The South African Collaborative COVID-19 Environmental Surveillance System (SACCESS) Network, which is a partnership of public and private sector organizations, came together in April 2020 to begin testing and analyzing wastewater, non-sewered sanitation, and environmental samples for SARS-CoV-2.

The Malawi WES program began in 2018, tracking pathogens in pit latrines. Since 2022, we have been collecting weekly samples at two healthcare facilities and an institution of higher education, and in 2024, we began collecting samples from a refugee camp.
